7. Wrap-up: Parallax
In this project, you made an awesome parallax animation using local variables.
Animators like you use parallax to bring new worlds to life in games, movies, and shows.
You can even use this parallax effect to make still photographs look almost three-dimensional.
Web designers use parallax to give users a more fun and interactive experience with their sites.
Sites like this one allow users to move their computer mouse or touchpad or tilt their mobile device to feel as though they are moving around inside a three dimensional space.
Parallax makes that possible!
As you can see, the techniques you're learning in this club are the same ones animators and computer scientists use in the real world.
Computer scientists like you do amazing things outside the animation world as well.
An example of this is the non-profit “Feeding America.”
Feeding America works to feed hungry people through a network of food banks.
To help in this mission, computer programmers built an Online Marketplace to connect food banks and businesses that have extra food to share with people who don't have enough to eat.
The organization estimates that this technology will lead to an additional 740 million meals reaching hungry people each year!
That's an incredible impact.
In the next session, you will continue adding to your animation toolkit by building an animated side scrolling game.
While you’re waiting for your clubmates to finish the wrap-up, take a moment to write a shout-out.
See you next time!
